Configuring SonicWall Firewall Devices for Use with YAPI
If your practice has a SonicWall Firewall device installed, information from your wireless (WiFi) network to the wired network is blocked by default. This keeps your office's iPads and any laptops you use (on your WiFi) from communicating with your server (on your wired network) and can result in a “Unable to connect” or “Connection times out” error in YAPI's iPad App. If your practice uses a SonicWall device for your firewall, follow the steps below to allow your wireless devices to communicate with YAPI on your server.

Configuring Your SonicWall Device for Use with YAPI
To configure your SonicWall Device so that YAPI can communicate between the iPads on your wireless network (WLAN) an the server on your wired network (LAN):

Open the instructions for How to Configure Access Rules on SonicWall's support knowledge base and scroll down to the Creating the necessary Firewall Access Rules section under Resolution for SonicOS 7.x.

Use these instructions to add a new Access Rule.

In the Action section, select Allow:

Set the Source as WLAN and the Destination as LAN:

Optional: Restrict traffic only to ports that YAPI uses:
- TCP 18000, 18001, 18002, 18003, 19000, 19001, and 9100
- UDP 18000, 18001, 18002, 18003, 19000, and 19001

Click Add.
