YAPI System & Network Requirements

YAPI is designed to operate on many systems with multiple software and hardware combinations. The following are YAPI's system, hardware, and network requirements: 

Supported Operating Systems
Windows 10 Home, Professional, Enterprise
Windows Server 2016 Standard, Enterprise, Datacenter
Windows Server 2019 Standard, Enterprise, Datacenter
Windows Server 2022 Standard, Enterprise, Datacenter

YAPI also requires a .NET 3.5 Framework installed for Windows.

Network Requirements
Fast, Wired Ethernet 
  • Required for YAPI workstations to communicate with the server and each other
  • Must be on the same subnet/broadcast domain as your practice's server or be bridged to the server's subnet
Private Wireless Network (WiFi)
  • Must have a strong signal around the office
  • Must be separate from any guest WiFi network
  • Must be on the same subnet/broadcast domain as your practice's server or be bridged to the server's subnet

For YAPI to communicate with the server appropriately, the following exceptions will also need to be created in the Windows Firewall settings:

TCP Outbound Ports 80, 443, 587, 18000-18009, 18800, 18802
UDP Inbound Ports 3520, 18002, 19000, 19001
UDP Outbound Ports 3520, 18002, 19000, 19001

Additional Notes
  • Only 1 YAPI Service can be installed per server/database.

  • YAPI and your practice management software (Dentrix, Open Dental, or Eaglesoft) must be installed on the same server.  

  • For Dentrix users, Acrobat Reader must be installed prior to your YAPI installation.

  • Your practice management software must be installed and configured on your server prior to YAPI installation.  For Eaglesoft users, the Eaglesoft client must also be installed on the server.

  • Environmental conditions such as Anti-virus, Active Directory Group Policies, DNS Service, and/or Email Services can impact the performance and specifications required.

  • It is not recommended to use the server as a workstation.

  • If your practice uses a virtual machine (VM) or emulation software such as Parallels, VMWare, VirtualBox, or Hyper-V (this is not common), we recommend configuring your server's virtual network card in bridged mode on the host computer.
