NOTE: If you are not sure how to access the camera within the iPad app, check out these articles:
If opening the camera within the YAPI app on the iPad triggers a black viewfinder and you can't see anything, follow this troubleshooting guide to restore camera functionality.
This article contains the following sections:
Verify That YAPI is Allowed to Use the Camera
You likely encountered a prompt asking for your permission to use the camera when triggering it for the first time in YAPI. Denying this request will result in the camera malfunctioning. Not to fear, however, as we can restore camera functionality with a simple toggle.
Navigate to the home screen on the iPad by pressing the Home button, located at the bottom.
Open the app called Settings. The icon looks like a grey box containing gears:
In the Settings application, tap on the section labeled Privacy on the left hand side, and then Camera on the right.
Applications that have requested access to the camera will be listed in this section. Locate YAPI and tap the toggle into the On (green) position if not already done.
At this point, go ahead and attempt to use the camera in the YAPI App; it should open up as expected.
If you enabled access to the camera and are still unable to use the camera, there are a few more things to try before throwing in the towel:
Verify that you can access the camera in other contexts by opening the Camera application from the home screen.
If you are unable to see anything in the camera app, verify that the camera is not obstructed by objects or a case.
If the camera is still unusable, your iPad is likely defective. You can get in touch with Apple Support for further assistance.
