Creating a Mobile Template

Mobile texting through YAPI is easier than ever! YAPI comes prepackaged with a large selection of mobile templates to fit your needs and tools that make building your own templates is even easier. If you feel that you need to create a unique template to send to your patients for almost any event, this article will be the place to be. The following article will show the user how to create a mobile template within YAPI.

  1. To access the Mobile Template Editor, open the YAPi Dashboard.

  2. Click the Setup and Manage icon 2019-09-03_11-44-13.png at the top of the YAPI Dashboard and click the Manage Documents and Templates option from the dropdown.

  3. When prompted for a password, the password by default should be set as "password" all lower case. 

  4. Within the Manage Documents and Templates window, click on the Mobile Templates tab.

  5. Click the New button on the right-hand side of the window, this will open a Create New Template Window.

Creating a mobile text is surprisingly easy, with simple messages being customized to better fit the purpose of the message. 

  1. Use Merge Tags to automatically fill in the name of the patient when you are sending messages directly. These tags are:

    • [[FIRST]] - Automatically fills in the patient's first name.

    • [[LAST]] - Automatically fills in the patient's last name.

    • [[PREFNAME]] - Automatically fills in the patient's preferred name on file. If this is not available, then this will be replaced with the patient's first name. '

    • [[PRACTICE]] - Automatically fills in the Practice name.

    • [[PHONE]] - Automatically fills in the Practice's office number. 

  2. On the bottom left corner of the Template Window, a Character Counter will count down as you type in your message. This will help control how large the text message can be to avoid sending multiple messages to patients with character limits on their phone. Recommended staying below 160 characters.

  3. The Spell Check will identify any potential errors within the text and give the option to right-click on the word to replace it with potential replacements. 

  4. The Font buttons will adjust how the words in the text editor will appear to the user, but will not affect the size of the text message itself.

  5. HTML Edit is a useful tool to help translate normal text into an HTML-based format for dynamic messages. Recommended for experienced users.

  6. Once the mobile template is complete, select the Save button on the bottom right corner of the template window.
