Testing Phone Assistant
To ensure that Phone Assistant is installed properly, you can either call in to your practice from an outside line (like your cell phone) or use the call simulator feature in YAPI to test it. To simulate a call, follow the steps below.
Table of Contents
Simulating a Call
-
From the YAPI Dashboard, click Setup and Manage and select Local Setup.
-
Click the Configure button under Phone Assistant.
-
In the Phone Assistant window that pops up, locate the Alert incoming calls to box. This includes a list of the phone extensions that Phone Assistant looks for. If extension 101 isn't listed, add it in, separating it from any existing extensions with a comma:
Why use Extension 101? This is just the extension that the testing feature recognizes! If your workstation doesn't normally use extension 101, you can remove this after testing.
-
Click Save, then Save again.
-
In the Dashboard toolbar, click Tools . Select Administrative Tools, then Phone Assistant, then Simulate Incoming Call:
-
In the Simulate Call pop-up, replace the phone number that's there with the phone number of an existing patient (that's listed as their phone number in Dentrix, Open Dental, or Eaglesoft):
-
Click Ok.
-
If you see the Phone Assistant pop-up appear for your existing patient: Phone Assistant is working!
If you needed to add a 101 extension in Steps 2 and 3 above, follow the directions in those steps to go back and remove it. Then you're all done!
-
If you don't see the Phone Assistant pop-up appear: Make sure the number you entered belongs to an existing patient in Dentrix, Open Dental, or Eaglesoft. If it does, contact our Customer Support team so they can help you troubleshoot.
