Phone Assistant 2.0 Failing to Launch (Visual C++)

When Phone Assistant 2.0 fails at startup, this is due to a missing version of Visual C++ that is required for the application to function. Some typical error messages would be similar to the following:

Under this circumstance, it is important to confirm what Visual C++ version is currently installed on the machine using Phone Assistant 2.0.

  1. On the Windows Desktop, click the Home button 2019-12-10_13-32-29.png at the bottom-left corner of the screen.

  2. Depending on the Windows Operating System used, a brand new window or a pop-up will appear with a list of options. Click on the Control Panel option.

  3. Within the Control Panel, click on Programs, or the Programs and Features option. This will populate a list of currently installed programs.

  4. From the programs list, search for Microsoft Visual C++. If the version installed is not Visual Studio of a recent year (ex. 2015, 2017, and 2019), the workstation must receive an update. An example of a workstation lacking the update is seen below:

  5. If the workstation needs the update, proceed to the latest supported Visual C++ downloads found on the Microsoft Support site.

  6. Download and install the latest version of Visual Studio on the workstation. Be sure to consider the bit version of the workstation with x64 being the lowest.
