Local Setting Options

Every workstation relies on a local configuration to change the overall aesthetics and functions. Where Global Setup makes adjustments with the overall process of YAPI, the Local Setup and the Options within will make the changes needed for YAPI to function on each individual workstation.

  • The following article will show how to access the Local Setup and how to configure the settings found on the Options section. 

How to Access the Options within Local Settings

  1. To access the Local Options, open the YAPI Dashboard.

  2. Click the Setup and Manage icon 2019-09-03_11-44-13.png at the top of the YAPI Dashboard and click the Local Setup option from the dropdown.

  3. The Local Options will be in the canary yellow box on the left-hand side of the Local Setup.

  • Skin - The Skin dropdown changes the aesthetics for YAPI with the following options. Choosing a skin will require the YAPI Practice Dashboard to restart after clicking the Save button in the bottom-right corner of the Local Setup window.

NOTE: If YAPI fails to load windows with transparent pop-up windows, change the skin for YAPI to None

  • Privacy - The Privacy section is dedicated to enabling and disabling visible information pertaining to checked-in patients on the Practice Dashboard. 

    • Show patient last name - This will adjust the visibility of the patient's last name. 

    • Show patient age - This will adjust the visibility of the patient's age. 

    • Show provider name - This will adjust the visibility of the provider associated with the patient and their current appointment.

  • Autostart - The Autostart feature allows the YAPI Practice Dashboard application to open on the workstation at a set time. 

    • Enable - Clicking the Enable checkbox will introduce a Start At time that can configure when the YAPI Practice Dashboard will open. Keep in mind this process will not retroactively activate if the workstation was not active at the time of the set activation.

  • Autoshutdown - The Autoshutdown feature allows the YAPI Practice Dashboard application to close on the workstation at a set time. 

    • Enable - Clicking the Enable checkbox will introduce a Start At time that can configure when the YAPI Practice Dashboard will close.

    • Launch Screensaver - The Launch Screensaver checkbox will allow the set desktop screensaver to appear after a successful scheduled shut down of the YAPI Practice Dashboard.

  • Toolstrip - The Toolstrip is the list of options available at the bottom of the operatory box in relation to major patient options. This section introduces the option to have the Toolstrip Show Always or Auto-hide, which will adjust the visibility of the Toolstrip below the operatory boxes. 

    •  Configure - The Configure button introduces a window showing what buttons will become visible within the Toolstrip under every operatory box. Clicking on the checkbox associated with each option will adjust whether they will be available on the Toolstrip. Click OK to confirm the Toolstrip options.

      • Summon Provider 2020-01-02_09-53-36.png - The Summon Provider button will create a global notification requesting a specific provider to come to a specific operatory. 

      • Send message to this area 2020-01-02_09-53-36.png - The Send message to this area button will introduce a message window that will submit a message to the selected operatory. 

      • Set area alert 2020-01-02_09-53-36.png - The Set area alert button will set the operatory to an alert in case of a major emergency within the office. An additional window will appear to specify the purpose of the alert and additional notes may be added. 

      • Toggle in-service/out-of-service 2020-01-02_09-53-36.png - The Toggle in-service/out-of-service button disabled the ability for patients to be placed in specific operatories if the operatory is unavailable. Clicking the button again will return the operatory back to its original working state.

      • Check-in provider 2020-01-02_09-53-36.png - The Check-in provider button assigs a provider to a select operatory once they meet with the patient.

      • Set patient alert 2020-01-02_09-53-36.png - The Set patient alert button will associate the patient with an alert that will affect the patient's appointment. Further information on patient alerts can be found in Your Guide to Patient Alerts.

      • Toggle patient ready/not ready 2020-01-02_09-53-36.png - The Toggle patient ready/not ready button sets the patient to be ready for treatment and moved to their assigned operatory. Recommended the patient fill out all their documents before moving the patient

      • Treatment/checkout/dismiss 2020-01-02_09-53-36.png - The Treatment/checkout/dismiss button is a context-sensitive button that will move the patient to dismissal once the patient completes their appointment. 

      • Sign form 2020-01-02_09-53-36.png - This option is no longer supported. Sign all further documents with the iPad.

      • Scan document 2020-01-02_09-53-36.png - If the workstation is connected to a scanner, the Scan document button will allow for hard copy documents to be added to the YAPI Writer for further digital filing.

      • Patient documents 2020-01-02_09-53-36.png - The Patient documents button will be available when documents are queued on YAPI Writer reading for signing and filing into the Practice Management Software. 

      • Diagnodent Exam  2020-01-02_09-53-36.png - The Diagnodent Exam button will introduce a window that will show a graphical and numerical layout of the patient's teeth and add additional information such as drilling depth and missing teeth.

        Click the Save button to transfer the examination to the YAPI Writer for further filing. 

      • Document center 2020-01-02_09-53-36.png - The Document center button is used exclusively by older versions of Practiceworks to quickly access a Document Center module for the selected patient in the operatory.

      • Add to interest list 2020-01-02_09-53-36.png - The Add to interest list button introduces a window to associate the selected patient in the operatory to be manually introduced to an interest list

      • Patient notes 2020-01-02_09-53-36.png - The Patient notes button will introduce a window where patient notes pertaining to the patient. 

      • Send email 2020-01-02_09-53-36.png - The Send email button prompts the email window. This can introduce an email template to be sent directly to the patient.

  • YAPI Blog feed - In earlier iterations of YAPI, the YAPI Blog feed checkbox would introduce an RSS feed redirecting to the original help center host for YAPI. Please use the current YAPI Help Center site for all currently available YAPI content. 

  • Disable Screensaver - The Disable Screensaver checkbox will disable the desktop screensaver set on the workstation as long as the YAPI Practice Dashboard remains active on the workstation. 

  • Manage layout - The Manage layout checkbox will disable any new shared layout prompts pushed on the YAPI Service. 

  • Block sleep/hibernate - The Block sleep/hibernate checkbox will disable the desktop set to sleep or hibernation process that has been preset on the workstation as long as the YAPI Practice Dashboard remains active on the workstation.

  • Enable flashing avatar to indicate timeout - This Enable flashing avatar to indicate timeout checkbox is intended to stop patient avatars from blinking after they have been queued in the Check-in or an operatory for a set amount of time. Recommended for high volume practices. 

  • Load Cache - The Load Cache will populate saved data on the workstation pertaining to the Practice Management Software and YAPI basic functions. Recommended to not disable feature unless specified by a YAPI Support technician.

  • Disable script errors - The Disable script errors is a troubleshooting option when certain features within YAPI are not responding. Recommended to not disable feature unless specified by a YAPI Support technician.

  • Phone Assistant - The Phone Assistant button is dedicated to the first iteration of Phone Assistant YAPI has released. As of the writing of this article, Phone Assistant 2.0 is currently available. However, if the original Phone Assistant is still being used at the Practice, the Enabling and Using The Phone Assistant article can explain how to configure the original Phone Assistant.
