Preparing to Move YAPI to a New Server

The preparation process for YAPI's migration to a new server has a set checklist of functions that must be completed beforehand. To ensure that all components function as intended, please refer to this article beforehand. If there are additional questions before proceeding with the migration, contact YAPI Technical Support.

  1. Ensure that the Practice Management Software has already been migrated to the new server. If an update to the Practice Management Software is being applied, ensure that the update is completed so the integration with YAPI is not broken.

  2. YAPI Technical Support will need access to both the new and old servers on the network if the YAPI data was not already migrated.

  3. When YAPI Technical Support is attempting to log-in to the server, ensure that the Practice Management Software is already logged in with Administrative Permissions, and the new server is logged in as an Administrative User.

  4. If YAPI is intended to be installed on another drive besides the C-Drive, notify YAPI Technical Support to proceed with the proper installation

  5. If the old server is being deactivated before YAPI Technical Supports connects, the following folders must be saved on to the network or the new server.

    C:\Users\*******\AppData\Local\Practical Dental Solutions\YService

    C:\Users\*******\AppData\Local\Practical Dental Solutions\YAPI Setup

(******* will refer to the User that was used during the initial YAPI installation)

NOTE: If YAPI was cloned to another drive besides its default location, Open File Location the shortcut on the desktop to determine its new location.

These will be the essential folders that will include all relevant data related to YAPI. Further assistance from YAPI Technical Support will be required to set up YAPI on the new server with the saved folders.

  6. If the old server is commissioned to be replaced and reused on the same network before the migration, the YService on the old server must be removed or disabled from the active services.

  7.  If there is a Firewall active, introduce the following ports on to the new server:

    Firewall Exceptions
    TCP Inbound Ports 80, 443, 587, 18000-18009, 18800, 18802
    TCP Outbound Ports 80, 443, 587, 18000-18009, 18800, 18802
    UDP Inbound Ports 3520, 18002, 19000, 19001
    UDP Outbound Ports 3520, 18002, 19000, 19001
  8. If there is an Antivirus active, introduce the following to the exception list:

    Folders to exclude from scans

    C:\Users\*******\AppData\Local\Practical Dental Solutions\YService

    Processes to exclude from scan

    C:\Users\******\AppData\Local\Practical Dental Solutions\YService\yapipn\yapipn.exe

    C:\Users\******\AppData\Local\Practical Dental Solutions\YService\yres.dll

    C:\Users\******\AppData\Local\Practical Dental Solutions\YService\yapipn
