Recommended App Configuration - Front Office iPads
Once you've installed and connected YAPI on your office iPads, you may want to configure each differently depending on who is using them. For example, we know that back office and front office team members likely won't use YAPI's iPad app in the same way. Below, we've listed our recommended configuration for iPads used in the front office so you can best fit the app to your team's needs.
Want to configure iPads for your back office team? Check out our Recommended App Configuration for Back Office iPads.

Adding the Recommended Settings
-
In the YAPI iPad app, tap Configuration in the bottom right.
-
If you've set up a YAPI password on this iPad, enter your password.
-
Scroll down to Security and Privacy and set the following:
-
YAPI Password on This Device - Set a password members of the office can easily remember to access all major functions of the app.
-
Password Protection for Dashboard - Enable this setting. This forces anyone trying to access another area of the app (like the Dashboard, Configuration, or Huddle) to enter the app password. We recommend this for all iPads that will be in patient hands to protect patient information and stay HIPAA compliant.
-
Show Patient Information - Set this to Password. This allows team members to access detailed patient information via the iPad but requires them to enter the app password for added security.
-
-
Scroll further down to the Dashboard section and enable the following:
-
Hide Empty Operatories - This hides operatories on the app Dashboard with no patients, making it easier to find the patient you're looking for.
-
Enable Patient Finder - This allows team members to search for and check in patients from the iPad app as long as Check-in Patients is enabled (see below).
-
Close Finder Results in Window After Check-in - Enabling this feature automatically closes the search window after checking a patient in. This saves your team clicks on a busy day.
-
Check-in patients - This allows team members to check in patients from the iPad app.
-
-
Scroll further down to the Documents section.
-
Enable AirPrint - Enable this setting if your practice has a printer that supports AirPrint. This setting allows team members to print completed patient forms directly from the iPad.
-
Show Document List - Disable this feature. This keeps patients within the list of forms a team member has selected for them. (When enabled, patients can choose from all available forms. We don't recommend this.)
-
-
Finally, scroll down to the Messenger section.
-
Message Filter - Set this to DND for Do Not Disturb. This keeps patients from seeing in-office messages that your team members send through YAPI.
-
-
Tap Save, then tap OK.
-
Force quit the YAPI app and reopen it for your changes to take effect.
