Setting Up Advanced Security for the YAPI iPad App
While we always recommend setting basic security features when setting up YAPI's iPad app, there are additional settings you can edit based on your practice's preferences. Check out each section below to learn about advanced security options and how you can edit them.
Note: You must set the security options for each iPad separately. Adding security settings to one iPad does not transfer these settings to all the iPads used in your office.

Enabling Password Protection for Patient Alerts

To password-protect this information and requiring users to enter the YAPI app password you set in Basic Security to view patient alerts:
-
Tap Configuration in the bottom right of the app.
-
Locate Password Protection for Alerts and push the toggle to right so that it's green (enabled).
-
Tap Save and when a pop-up shows that your changes have been saved, tap OK.
-
Force quit the YAPI app and reopen it.
Adding a Shared Secret
A Shared Secret is a specific word of your choice (similar to a password) entered in both YAPI's Global Setup on your desktop and in the iPad app to provide an extra layer of security between the two. Unlike a password, a Shared Secret only needs to be set up once on a single desktop and once on each iPad. To set up a Shared Secret:
-
From the YAPI Dashboard on your desktop, click Setup & Manage
and select Global Setup.
-
When prompted, enter your YAPI password (not your iPad password).
-
In the Global Setup window that pops up, click the Options tab.
-
Locate the Mobile YAPI section and enter the Shared Secret you're like to use (similar to a password, with letter, numbers, or both, and no spaces).
-
Open the YAPI app on your iPad. If the app wasn't already open, you'll see the message below. Tap Dismiss.
-
Tap Configuration in the bottom right and scroll down to the Security and Privacy section.
-
In the box next to Shared Secret, enter the same word you entered in Global Setup in Step 4.
-
Tap Save and when a pop-up shows that your changes have been saved, tap OK.
-
Force quit the YAPI app and reopen it.
