What Are Interest Lists?
Interest Lists are lists of patients with a shared interest or that fall in a specific demographic. Once created in YAPI, these lists can be used to target email blasts to groups within your patient base. For example, you might create an Interest List of patients that all have the same insurance carrier, a list of patients over the age of 50, or a list of patients who have expressed interest in teeth whitening. You can then use YAPI's Mail Blast feature to send targeted emails created just for patients on a specific Interest List and not bother any patients that your email isn't relevant to.
Why Use Interest Lists?
When patients only see emails that are relevant to them, they're more likely to engage. Interest Lists allow you to focus your email blasts so patients get the essential information they need without the things they don't. You can use Interest Lists for things like:
- Contacting a particular provider's patients to announce a leave of absence.
- Creating an ever-growing mailing list for patients interested in dental tips.
- Sending an offer for an orthodontics special only to parents and younger patients.
Targeting smaller groups like this helps foster trust in your communications, showing patients that you want to provide information that's relevant to their needs.
Options for Creating Interest Lists
There are two options for creating Interest Lists: importing an existing list, or creating an empty list you can add to as you go. With either, you can add more patients individually later once the list is created, so the option you choose should be based on whether or not you already have a long list of patients to import.
Creating an Interest List by Importing a List of Patients: This option is used for importing a long list of patients and is best for when you want to target a specific group based on information you already have in your Dentrix, Open Dental, or Eaglesoft. Some examples include:
- Patients that have a particular insurance carrier
- Patients who see a specific provider at your practice
- Patients with an overdue balance
- Patients with the same birthday month
Creating an Empty Interest List to Add patients to Later: If you don't have a prepared list of patients, you can create a blank Interest List and add patients as you go. This option is best for targeted marketing, since patients are expressing interest and are actively opting in. Some examples include:
- Patients who want to be notified of special offers for treatments like teeth whitening or braces
- Patients who expressed interest in an event your practice is sponsoring
- Patients who want to be on a mailing list for your monthly newsletter
