Setting Your Workstation to Receive Patient Texts

Since most workstations at your practice don't need to receive incoming patient texts, this feature is set to off by default.  If you need to set your workstations to receive patient texts, though, follow the steps below.

Tip: If you also want to set options for the in-office messages you receive, check out our article Setting Which Types of Messages Show on Your Workstation.

Setting Your Workstation to Receive Texts

  1. From the YAPI Dashboard, click Setup and Manage Setup_and_Manage.png and select Local Setup.

  2. Select the Receive mobile text and patient communication checkbox:

  3. Optional (recommended): When patients confirm an appointment via text by replying C, OK, K, YES, Y, THANK, THANKS, CONFIRM, CONFIRMED, or SI to an appointment reminder, this text confirms the appointment in Dentrix, Open Dental, or Eaglesoft AND can appear as a text on your desktop. If you want to receive these types of texts too, select the Show processed mobile text checkbox:

Important! We highly recommend selecting this checkbox because patients sometimes include additional messages or questions when they confirm.  For example, they might say "Thanks!  Is there anything I need to bring to the appointment?"  If the Show processed mobile text is deselected, the appointment will still confirm in Dentrix, Open Dental, or Eaglesoft, but you'll miss their question.  For more about types of texts, see Introduction to Texting in YAPI.

If you don't want to receive these confirmation texts, deselect the Show processed mobile text checkbox.

  4. Click Ok, then click Save.
