Sending Individual Emails from the Dashboard
With YAPI you can easily email your patients right from your desktop Dashboard. Check out the steps below to learn how to send emails from different places in the YAPI Dashboard.

Emailing from the Dashboard
There are multiple ways to email from the YAPI Dashboard, depending on whether or not the the person you're emailing is a current patient in Dentrix, Open Dental, or Eaglesoft. Click the appropriate option below:
If a patient has a profile in your practice management software, you can email them directly from the Patient Finder without having to copy and paste their email address:

From the YAPI Dashboard, click Patients and select and select Patient Finder.

In the Patient Finder, enter the patient's last name in the search box, then click Search.

Locate the patient in your search results and click on their email address:

In the Send Email pop-up, compose your email by doing one of the following:

Type in Your Own Message: Type in a subject for your email in the Subject box, then type your message in the box labelled Message Body:

Use a Pre-Made Template: Select the Use Template checkbox, then select a pre-composed template from the list:
Warning! When sending an individual email using a template, only use templates that you know contain the appropriate Merge Tags for manually sent emails OR use templates that you know don't have Merge Tags. If your template contains the wrong types of Merge Tags, your email won't populate the proper information and will show the Merge Tag instead:

To add an additional recipient: Click the green plus button next to the Email Address box. Then type in the additional recipient's email address or click Contacts and select someone from your Contacts list.

To attach a file or PDF document: Click the green plus button next to the Attachments box. Then select Attach File (to attach any type of file from your computer) or Attach PDF (to attach a PDF that is stored in YAPI).

To attach a calendar item: If you want to send a calendar event as an attachment for your recipient to download and add to their digital calendar, click the green plus button next to the Attachments box. Then select Attach Calendar. In the Add Event pop-up, select When the event is occuring and its Duration. Then enter a Description of the event and click OK.

To check your spelling: Click Spell Check to identify misspelled words and correct them before sending your message.

If you have an encrypted email service set up: Select the Encrypted email checkbox if you want this email rerouted through your encrypted email service.
Note: The Add Footnote option is no longer supported. Selecting this checkbox does not affect your email.

Click Send.
Tip: You can also text existing patients from Today's Schedule, your Recall Due and Past Due reports, a patient's Dashboard avatar, or the patient's Routing Slip:

If you need to send an email to a non-patient contact or a new patient who doesn't have a profile in your practice management software yet, you can send it from the Communication Tower:

From the YAPI Dashboard, click Communication and select Send Email.
